Week 11 -Mr Adam

We have been given our final assignment for Digital Design:

The Task
Your task is to design an original movie promotional standee and a movie title for one of the synopsis below.

Synopsis A
You a depressed college student, who doesn't like your life and your study. You can't sleep and feels alienated from the world at large. You live in your own imaginary world full of characters that were very real to you. The problem is you never grew out of it. Instead, it got worse and worse…

Synopsis B
The living dead have taken over city. The zombies are out to kill everybody who is still alive. Once you are bitten, you die and return as a zombie. Amidst the chaos, you lead a group of uninfected people to safety, also to find other human survivors in an attempt to discover the source of the "zombie" virus and save the world.

I decided to go with Synopsis A. Here's a few sketches i did before, during and after consulting Mr Adam.

small layout of what i decided to work on
I am going to paint the whole thing in photoshop as Mr Adam said trying to match a photo with a drawing is very hard as one is 2D and the other is 3D. So I have to paint the whole thing and I dont have to book the photo studio to take pictures :P Sadly, i have little to almost none experience with painting in photoshop with the wacom tablet except for a few times i used it in another class, Illustration and Visual Narrative. And i've never tried painting clouds before so this is going to be a challenge ha-ha-haaa...

Week 10 -Bunting

This is the final outcome of my assignment to vectorise the 6th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2014 bunting.

Week 9 -Mr Jeffrey

This time we were tasked with creating a logo for CMEX which btw stands for "China Malaysia Entrepreneur Exchange". With a time limit of 30 mins and these 2 images provided as inspiration,

This is my design:

Week 9 -Mr Adam

We were taught how to adjust the brightness/contrast in photoshop by pen tooling a soldier into an empty house background. And also to add some lighting effect using adjustment layer and colour balance.

This is what i did:

Week 7 -Mr Adam

In this class, we were taught how to place textures on a new bus to make it look old and abandoned.

Rusty textures:

Cracked glass:

Blood splatter:

After placing the bus and the pictures, using multiply effect for the rust, lighter colour effect for the cracked glasses, subtract for the broken mirror effect and soft light effect for the blood splatters, i mask the images respectively and use the brush tool to adjust certain areas so that the textures blend properly.
So here's my completed old abandoned bus:

After that we were given another exercise of placing a different skin texture on a hand.

Then after using darker colour effect, i used warp to adjust the texture to give it a less flat-looking surface on the hand. Placing the texture more than once to spread it evenly on the hand, i also used masking to erase off some parts of the texture to give it a natural-looking fade into the skin effect. Doesn't look very legit but hey, i tried :|

Week 6 -Mr Adam

In this lesson, we had to search for images on google: a wall and a graffiti image.

Then, after adjusting the graffiti position and angle, and using darker colour filter, i get this:

After that we were taught how to warp images using a tin can and an image of tomatoes.

By clicking edit, transform and warp, the tomato image is adjusted following the shape and flow of the can. Then using multiply effect, the tomato image blends together with the can.

Next, Mr Adam taught us how to add some rain and abit of mystical fog effect into an image. He had us use a Young Detective Dee poster to try it out.

For the rain effect, first add another layer and press <option + delete> , click filter, pixelate and mezzotint and adjust the type of dots/lines to be used for rain. Then filter, blur and motion blur to adjust the angle and distance the rain droplets have from each other. And use screen filter or any other kind that suits the image. Another layer is added for the mystical fog-thing, click filter, render and clouds. And then filter, blur, gaussian blur and adjust the radius. Next after filtering with screen, mask the layer and use brush tool to erase off unwanted fog. Setting different opacities for the brush helps in making the fog effect more realistic. This is how mine turned out:

Week 4 -Mr Jeffrey

In this class, after downloading a pear template for illustrator, we traced out the dotted lines, and filled them in with swatches.

pear template:

what i did:

Upon posting them in our class fb group, everyone kept coming up with so much puns it was unpearable >_>

Next, we used masking to mask a flame image and adjusted it atop a screaming girl's head and used brush tool to clean unwanted parts of the flames

this

+ this

= this

this. gurrl. is on faiyahhhhh~

Week 3 -Mr Jeffrey

Using illustrator in this lesson, we traced the outline image of a wolf using pen tool and used an effect under stylize called scribble and filled the traced image.

the original image:

And here's what i did :D

look at those creepy eyes lol

After that, in photoshop we played with the layer lighting effect like overlay, and also using the brush tool to change certain areas in the photo to the desired colour/lighting.

Week 2 -Mr Jeffrey

In this lesson we were taught how to use the pen tool to crop out faces of a photo and placing them -u know where im getting at ;D (NO WINK FOR U) so here's my finished work:

the original Iron Patriot photo:

I would also post the uncropped version of the baby photo, if i saved it in my thumbdrive ._. sadly, i did not, so no. no uncropped baby photo. and, no its not a baby photo of me, which is also explains why i dont have the uncropped version. *image credits to google and the respected owners of the photos*

Next:
We worked on 2 images Mr Jeffrey uploaded onto our class' fb group page

a house to crop out

and a background to place it in

And here's what happens after pen tooling out the house, pasting it in the background and going through image, adjustments and match colour to match the house into the background

Week 2 -Mr Adam

For our first lesson in Digital Design, we were taught how to use the patch tool to "clean" the imperfections, namely pimples and freckles off of a face from a photo. After clicking the tool, simply circle the spot u want cleaned and just drag the circled area to another area with a close skin tone for that "realistically natural" clean face.

before:

and after:

Ah, the wonders of photoshop! It just makes me weary not to completely trust people's photos off the internet anymore hahaaa...

Moving on, we were taught the liquify tool. Quite an interesting tool if u ask me, allowing u to distort the face in the photo into a completely different expression.

before:

after:

Apologies, my photoshop skills are clearly on the level of noob ._.
